Over 75,000 FX4's were manufactured between 1958 and 1997. It was manufactured over the years by Austin,Carbodies and finally LTI. it was 15 foot in length and teh majority were of course black. The original design was Eric Bailey who worked at Austin.
The Austin FX4 became a very familiar sight on the streets of London.

Oxford Diecast FX4 Black Taxi – 1:76 Scale
The model is a die‑cast replica of the Austin FX4 taxi in its classic black livery, produced at a scale of 1:76. It is supplied by Oxford Diecast under the manufacturer part number 76FX4001 and represents the British Railways Late Crest period.
The original Austin FX4 was produced between 1958 and 1997, with over 75,000 units built by Austin, Carbodies and later Leyland (LTI). The vehicle measured approximately 15 feet in length and was most commonly seen in black across the streets of London. The design was created by Eric Bailey, who worked at Austin.
The Oxford Diecast model includes details such as the front cover of an Austin FX4 brochure and aims to faithfully capture the appearance of the iconic London taxi.
