Manufacturer description

Ford launched their Mk 3 Ford Transit van in 1986 into the popular utility vehicle range that had stood the test of time since its first introduction back in 1965. The Mk 3 ensured its future success and popularity where it has been seen everywhere.

The AA was no exception and the latest Oxford release sees the Mk 3 in the familiar bright yellow and black livery of AA Service, completed with a central white stripe running along both sides of the van. Registered D189 ARD from 1986, the first year of Ford production, our model features an orange/yellow roof light bar printed with AA Service. The simple graphics are repeated on the side panels and across the sloping front of the bonnet. Automobile Association models have a keen following amongst roadside rescue enthusiasts and this latest one fills another gap in the line-up.

Oxford Diecast Ford Transit Mk3 AA is a 1:43 scale model produced by Oxford Diecast. The model is identified by the manufacturer part number 76FT3004 and represents the British Rail sectorisation period.

The vehicle portrayed is a Mk 3 Ford Transit van, which Ford launched in 1986 as the third generation of its long‑standing utility range that commenced in 1965. The Mk 3 version continued the model’s popularity throughout the 1980s.

This particular example is painted in the bright yellow and black livery used by the Automobile Association (AA) for its roadside service fleet. It bears the registration D189 ARD, a yellow and orange roof‑light bar printed with “AA Service”, a central white stripe running along both sides, and matching AA graphics on the side panels and the sloping front of the bonnet.

AA‑branded models have a dedicated following among collectors of roadside rescue vehicles, and this release fills a previously unfilled slot in the Oxford Diecast line‑up.
