Manufacturer description

Launched in 1959 to replace the Bedford S type, the Beford TK had many body derivatives one of which was a fire engine. This TK is based on a Carmichael body. The West Midlands Fire Service was created in 1974 when the West Midlands county came into being. Oxford Diecast Bedford TK / Carmichael Fire Engine – 1:76 Scale is a model kit produced under the part number 76FIRE003. The model depicts a Bedford TK truck in the British Rail Blue livery, representing the period before the introduction of the TOPS classification system.

The Bedford TK was launched in 1959 as a successor to the Bedford S type and was produced with a variety of body configurations; this version carries a Carmichael fire‑engine body. The vehicle is presented in 1:76 scale, suitable for collectors of railway and road‑transport models.

The fire‑engine representation relates to the West Midlands Fire Service, which was established in 1974 when the West Midlands county was created. Before that date each county borough – Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Solihull, Walsall, Warley, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton – operated its own fire brigades.
