Manufacturer description

Launched in 1959 to replace the Bedford S type, the Beford TK had many body derivatives one of which was a fire engine. This TK is based on a Carmichael body. The Northamptonshire Fire Brigade and the separate Northampton Borough Fire Brigade were created in 1948 by the Fire Services Act 1947. In 1974 the two were merged to create the present service - the Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service - which has 22 stations, 5 of which are full time, two are day crewed, and the remainder are retained. This TK was used at the Mopulton depot and bears that name on the doors.

Oxford Diecast TK Fire Northamptonshire – 1:76 Scale is a model railway vehicle produced by Oxford Diecast. It carries the manufacturer part number 76FIRE002 and depicts a British Rail Blue livery from the pre‑TOPS era. The model is a 1:76 scale replica of a Bedford TK fire engine built on a Carmichael body, and it is marked with “Mopulton” on the doors, indicating its original depot.

The Bedford TK was introduced in 1959 to replace the Bedford S type and spawned several specialised body types, including fire engines. The Northamptonshire Fire Brigade and the separate Northampton Borough Fire Brigade were established in 1948 under the Fire Services Act 1947; they merged in 1974 to form the present Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service, which now operates 22 stations, of which five are full‑time, two are day‑crewed and the remainder are retained. This particular TK model reflects the vehicle that served at the Mopulton depot of the former brigades.
