Manufacturer description

You may remember the name Rediffusion from the early years of TV if you born in the 1950/1960's, it was a British company that provided wired radio and television services. It was founded in 1928 and began broadcasting radio programs in 1931. It started broadcasting television programs in 1947, and by the early 1950s, it had over 1 million subscribers.Rediffusion's television rental business was a success because it offered customers a convenient and affordable way to watch television. It installed and maintained the television sets in its subscribers' homes, and it charged a monthly rental fee. This was a popular option for many people at the time, as television sets were expensive and required specialised knowledge to install and maintain. It also offered its subscribers a variety of programming, including BBC television channels, commercial television channels, and its own in-house programming which included news, sports, and entertainment programs. The television rental business began to decline in the early 1970s, as more and more people began to purchase their own television sets. It was also affected by the introduction of colour television in the late 1960s and the television rental business ended in the early 1990s.

Our Ford 400E Rediffusion replica dates from 1964, registered ALV 252B and comes decorated in the two tone Rediffusion livery of dark red and grey with a white band running round the waist of the vehicle. The black and white company logo is printed on the sides of the van and is also repeated in white across the back doors. Other trim includes a white radiator grille, silver door handles and the red and silver Thames logo on the front and rear of the van.

The 1:76 Oxford Diecast model comes on a plinth with a clear lid and Oxford Commercial wrap.
