Manufacturer description

The much-loved 1960s Ford Consul Capri appears in pure white with silver trim. The interior is black but a splash of vibrant red has been added to seats and flooring. The registration plate reads 117 FXM.

Ford launched the Consul Capri in September 1961 to great acclaim but the first 200 were made with left hand drive for the export market which must have frustrated eager UK motorists! The car boasted sweeping lines with a two-door configuration, a large boot and a pillarless coupe roof. Further up-market features included a four headlight configuration, variable speed wipers, front disc brakes, dimming dashboard lights and even a cigarette lighter. The four-speed transmission also offered a column or floor change option. The Ford Consul Capri was a very attractive car in its day incorporating a hint of its Ford stable mates the Thunderbird and Galaxie Sunliner.

Oxford Diecast Ermine White Ford Consul Capri – model number 76FCC004.
The replica represents a British‑spec Ford Consorziatura (Consul) Capri from the early 1960s, finished in pure white with silver trim. The interior is black with red upholstery and floor covering, and the fitted registration plate reads 117 FXM.

The original Consul Capri was launched in September 1961 and, although initially built for export with left‑hand drive, quickly became popular in the United Kingdom. It is a two‑door, pillar‑less coupe with a spacious boot, four headlamps and a range of upmarket features such as variable‑speed windscreen wipers, front disc brakes, dimmable dashboard lights, a cigarette lighter and a four‑speed gearbox selectable via column or floor shift. Styling cues echo those of Ford’s larger models, notably the Thunderbird and the Galaxie Sunliner.

The die‑cast model is presented in the British Rail Blue (Pre‑TOPS) colour scheme for the period it represents.
