Manufacturer description

The Ford Escort Mk2 comprising the second generation of the marque and dating from 1974-1981, was officially launched to the world in January 1975, superseding the Mk1. Production had started in December 1974 but unlike the Mk1, was not limited to the UK but was extended to Ford Germany as a result of joint collaboration between the UK and German Ford plants. The Mk2 had many external differences over its predecessor. Its styling was squarer; it used the same mechanical components as the Mk1, although the underbody had been revised, as was the interior where you could only get a model with a glove box if you bought the high end vehicle! The front-engined, rear wheel drive car also came with a stalk mounted horn. Under the bonnet not a lot had changed with the same engine capacity options, although the low end 940cc was only available in Italy. In the UK and Europe the standard engine ranged upwards from a 1.1L Rear suspension still sat on leaf springs rather than the coil springs used by other car manufacturers. The Mk2 was made between 1974-1977 as a 2-door saloon with later options including a 4-door version, a 3-door estate and a 2-door van.

Adding a touch of brilliant white sparkle to your shelf, is the third release of the Mk 2 Ford Escort, registered FPT 665S from 1977/78. The interior is moulded in dark grey and exterior trim looks great in contrasting black, including bumpers and window surrounds. Our Oxford model faithfully replicates the revised features of the 'real thing' which superseded the Mk1.The blue Ford badge is positioned in the centre of the new style radiator grille and the Ford Escort name also appears across the boot.

This scale model is 1:76 scale and is just over 5cm long - it comes on a plinth with a case.

Oxford Diecast Diamond White Ford Escort Mk2 – 1:76 Scale

Manufacturer part number 76ESC003 reproduces a British Rail Blue Ford Escort Mk2 from the 1977‑78 period (registered FPT 665S). The model measures just over 5 cm in length and is supplied on a plinth inside a protective case.

The die‑cast vehicle is finished in Diamond White with dark‑grey interior moulding and contrasting black trim on the bumpers and window surrounds. The central blue Ford badge is placed on the revised style radiator grille and the Escort name is marked on the boot, matching the design changes introduced after the Mk1.

The real Ford Escort Mk2 was produced from December 1974 to 1977 as a 2‑door saloon, later expanded to include 4‑door, 3‑door estate and 2‑door van versions. Launched in January 1975, it featured squarer styling, leaf‑spring rear suspension and a range of engines from 1.1 L upwards, with a 940 cc option limited to Italy. The model aims to faithfully replicate these characteristics in 1:76 scale.
