Oxford has released some very colourful miniatures of the Houghton Parkhouse ‘Professional’ Livestock Transporter and this, this release on the DF XF Euro 6 is no exception. This time it hails from Boyndie, near Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, the base of Bert Christie Livestock Haulage.
Bert, born in 1946, was raised in a farming family so knew livestock very well. In his early twenties, he joined a livestock haulage firm as a driver with whom he spent the next 30 years until being made redundant. In 1997, he saw an opportunity to set up his own business and now, partnered by his son Neil, he runs his livestock haulage business throughout the UK, primarily using DAF XF trucks, all dressed in his bright red and silver livery.
Here we present the Bert Christie DAF XF Euro 6, aptly registered B7ERT. The red body carries bold silver masking - note particularly the grand silver sweeps of colour on the cab. Exterior trim is also silver and black while black and silver drop shadow company lettering is printed on both the cab and the trailer. The cab interior is also moulded in black. We love especially the Muckle Coo (Highland Cow) on the back of the trailer, decorated colourfully and with its characteristic enormous horns and shaggy coat, accompanied by a dear little calf against a snow-filled background. Not to be messed with for sure!
