Manufacturer description

The AA was formed in 1905 famously meeting in the Trocadero Restaurant in London. Memberhip of the organisation grew rapidly and five years later they had patrols across the country. Intially the cycle scouts were employed at weekends to advise members of police traps ahead, but this soon changed as they began helping stranded motorists. In the late 1940's the introduction of two-way radio transformed the organisation as they were able to be contacted centrally to attend a members vehicle. The long wheelbase Defender is the perfect vehicle for organisations such as the AA and it is in its element as used by the Special Operations Response Team. Any AA member in trouble on the roads would feel great relief and confidence if the real thing rolled up to help in an emergency. This 1:76 scale model, registered AK53 TXJ, has the AA image logo on all sides, including the bonnet, as well as on the specially fitted roof lightbars. Painted in the AA signature yellow and black, additional colour sees the rear of the vehicle with the high visibility chevron effect and the Special Operations Response Team lettering in black out of a bright red filling the back window, above the spare wheel.

Oxford Diecast Land Rover Defender AA – 1:76 Scale

This die‑cast model (manufacturer part number 76DEF009) represents a long‑wheel‑base Land Rover Defender from the initial privatisation period. The vehicle is produced at a 1:76 scale and is registered AK53 TXJ. It bears the AA (Automobile Association) logo on the bonnet, roof lightbars and all side panels, and is finished in the AA’s distinctive yellow and black colour scheme. The rear features a high‑visibility chevron design and the wording “Special Operations Response Team” in black lettering set against a bright red background on the rear window, above the spare wheel.

The model reflects the historical role of the AA, which was formed in 1905 and expanded its roadside assistance duties during the 1940s following the introduction of two‑way radio communication. The Defender is presented as the type of vehicle that would have been used by the AA’s Special Operations Response Team to aid members in road emergencies.
