Manufacturer description

The K8 (3 Way) Van commenced production in 1947 and the van cost ÂŁ535. It earned the name 3-Way due to the door configuration. To assist loading and unloading, it featured double doors on the near and offside, as well as opening near doors. With a payload of 25 cwt and a short wheelbase, it proved a very nippy vehicle for delivery purposes, where frequent drop-off was necessary. The van was discontinued in 1954, by which time over 26,500 had been manufactured. Due to its size and door configuration it was popular with regional newspapers for delivering daily newpapers to newsagents and is shown here with the Lancashire Evening Post roofboards.

Oxford Diecast Lancashire Evening Post Austin K8 Three‑way Van – 1:76 scale (model number 76AK001) is a die‑cast replica of a British Railways late‑crest vehicle. The original K8 van was introduced in 1947, priced at £535, and remained in production until 1954.

The van was called a “three‑way” because it had double doors on the near and off‑side and an additional opening near door, a configuration that facilitated loading and unloading. It carried a payload of 25 cwt, featured a short wheelbase and was noted for being a quick‑moving delivery vehicle, suitable for frequent drop‑offs. Over 26,500 units were built during its production run.

The model is presented with Lancashire Evening Post roofboards, reflecting the vehicle’s popular use by regional newspapers for delivering daily papers to newsagents. The replica is aimed at collectors of British railway and commercial vehicle memorabilia.
