Prototype Era
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
DCC Fitted Version
The English Electric GT3 was designed and built in the Vulcan Foundry in Newton-le-Willows, Cheshire in 1958. After a lot of testing, it was found to be uneconomical to use with the introduction of diesel power. The GT3 had the look of a steam loco with its traditional loco tender configuration. KR Models has captured the essence of the GT3 in this model. It would make an excellent addition to any layout.

Key specifications:
- DCC fitted (digital control compatible)
- Manufacturer part number GT3‑OO‑F
- Represents the British Railways late Crest period
The full‑size GT3 was a gas‑turbine locomotive with a traditional steam‑loco tender layout, but it proved uneconomical after the advent of diesel power. KR Models has reproduced its appearance and details for model railway enthusiasts.
This model would be a suitable addition to a British railway layout, particularly for those seeking to represent the late‑Crest era.
