In 1919, the Midland Railway built a single 0-10-0 steam locomotive, MR Black No 2290, (later LMS (1947) 2290 and BR Black 58100). It was designed by James Anderson for banking duties on the Lickey Incline in Worcestershire (south of Birmingham), England. It became known as “Big Bertha” or “Big Emma” by railwaymen and railway enthusiasts.

KR Models MR 0-10-0 Lickey Banker “Big Bertha” MR Crimson Lake 2290 Steam Locomotive – DCC Sound is a ready‑to‑run model of the Midland Railway 0‑10‑0 locomotive built in 1919. The prototype, originally numbered MR Black No 2290 and later LMS No 2290 and BR Black 58100, was designed by James Anderson for banking duties on the Lickey Incline near Birmingham and became popularly known as “Big Bertha” or “Big Emma”.
The model carries the manufacturer part number BIG‑OO‑MRC‑S and is equipped with DCC sound capability. It represents the pre‑grouping era of British railways.
Key features include a 21‑pin DCC socket with easy access in the tender, a fire‑box flicker effect, a “stay alive” function on board, and a heavy die‑cast metal chassis. The fitted versions are supplied with either a LokSound v5.0 sound decoder or a LokPilot 5 decoder. The locomotive is not suitable for first‑radius curves.
