In 1919, the Midland Railway built a single 0-10-0 steam locomotive, MR Black No 2290, (later LMS (1947) 2290 and BR Black 58100). It was designed by James Anderson for banking duties on the Lickey Incline in Worcestershire (south of Birmingham), England. It became known as “Big Bertha” or “Big Emma” by railwaymen and railway enthusiasts.

KR Models MR 0‑10‑0 Lickey Banker ‘Big Bertha’ MR Black 2290 Steam Locomotive – DCC fitted. The model carries the manufacturer part number BIG‑OO‑MR‑F and represents a pre‑grouping locomotive.

The prototype was built by the Midland Railway in 1919 as a single 0‑10‑0 engine, MR Black No 2290, later renumbered LMS 2290 in 1947 and BR Black 58100. Designed by James Anderson for banking duties on the Lickey Incline in Worcestershire, it was widely known as “Big Bertha” or “Big Emma”.

Model specifications include a 21‑pin DCC socket with easy access in the tender, fire‑box flicker lighting, an on‑board Stay‑Alive function, and a heavy die‑cast metal chassis. Fitted versions are equipped with a LokSound v5.0 sound decoder or a LokPilot 5 decoder. The model is not suitable for 1st‑radius curves.
