Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
In 1948 BR asked O.V.S Bulleid to come up with a solution to help reduce overcrowding on suburban routes to and from London.
In 1949 2 Double Deck units rolled off the production line, numbered 4001/4002 these were an experiment that lasted 22 years and finished on 1st October 1971.
In 1970 both units were repainted to BR Blue and renumbered to 4901 and 4902.
We will be producing both running numbers as 4 car packs. There will be 2 power cars, all will have internal lights.

KR Models Bulleid Class 4DD Double‑Deck 4‑car EMU (running numbers 4002/4902) is offered in BR Green with small yellow ends. The model carries the manufacturer part number 4DD‑OO‑R‑2‑G1 and represents the British Railways Late Crest period.
The kit includes two power cars and is supplied as a four‑car pack. All units are fitted with interior lighting, close coupling and steel buffers. It is available in three liveries: full green, green with small yellow ends and BR Blue.
DCC options are provided; the model can be purchased DCC ready, DCC fitted or with DCC sound using LokSound V5.0. The DCC fitting service itself is not available.
Historically the original Bulleid 4DD units were ordered by British Railways in 1948 to alleviate suburban overcrowding. Two units (numbers 4001 and 4002) entered service in 1949 and operated until 1 October 1971. In 1970 they were repainted in BR Blue and renumbered 4901 and 4902.
