Hornby BR Extra Long CCT Van - Era 5 is a OO gauge model representing a British Railways closed cover truck in BR blue livery. The model measures 151 mm in length, has a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius) and features a pristine finish. It carries the running number E1336, is fitted with a NEM coupling, and bears the manufacturer part number R6970. The design is credited to LNER and the model depicts the late crest period of British Railways.
The closed cover truck was a type of goods van used by British Railways to transport freight while protecting it from wind and rain. In addition to side doors, the vans had opening ends, allowing them to carry motor vehicles as well as parcel traffic.
