Manufacturer description

BR introduced the ‘FFA’ bogie container wagon in the 1960s and used it for its Freightliner intermodal traffic, which used the latest ISO container standards used for shipping. They marked a new era for BR freight operations, with continuous air brakes eliminating the need for a brake van.

The two containers with this OO gauge RailRoad model wagon example represent ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Hapag Lloyd’, which are current day shipping agencies.

Hornby RailRoad BR FFA Container Wagon & Containers (manufacturer part number R60360) is a OO gauge model of a British Rail freight wagon. The model depicts a 1960s‑era ‘FFA’ bogie container wagon, which was introduced by British Rail for its Freightliner intermodal traffic and is shown in a current‑era configuration.

The wagon is fitted with continuous air brakes, a feature that removed the requirement for a separate brake van in freight trains. Two ISO containers are supplied with the model, representing the modern shipping lines Evergreen and Hapag Lloyd.

The product is intended to represent contemporary intermodal freight operations, using the same container standards that are in use today.
