Grimethorpe Colliery was part of a large and highly productive Coalite facility near Barnsley in South Yorkshire. Coalite was a type of low-temperature coke used as smokeless fuel. Wagons such as these were used on the internal rail system and in coal trains. The colliery closed in 1993 and the Coalite plant closed the following year. 

Each highly detailed scale model in this 21T Hopper Wagon Triple Pack has a different running number: 206, 210 and 640.

Hornby Grimethorpe Coalite – 21T Hopper – Wagon Triple Pack is a scale model set supplied under manufacturer part number R60345. The wagons represent the British Rail sectorisation period and are modelled after the low‑temperature coke wagons used at Grimethorpe Colliery and its adjoining Coalite plant in South Yorkshire.

Grimethorpe Colliery formed part of a large Coalite facility that produced smokeless fuel for internal rail workings and coal trains. The colliery ceased operations in 1993 and the Coalite plant closed the following year, in 1994.

The triple pack contains three highly detailed 21‑tonne hopper wagons, each bearing a unique running number: 206, 210 and 640.
