Manufacturer description

The BR 21-ton hopper wagon was based on an earlier LNER design which it continued to build in large numbers through the 1950s. Designed for carrying coal, they either had riveted or welded bodies. Many were rebodied from the mid-1960s as they had become badly corroded or distorted through heavy usage.

This OO gauge model 21T Hopper Wagon is an excellent replica of these popuar designs.

Hornby BR 21‑ton hopper wagon (model number R60344) is a OO gauge replica of the British Railways late‑crest 21‑ton coal hopper. The original wagons were based on an earlier LNER design and were built in large numbers throughout the 1950s, with bodies that were either riveted or welded. From the mid‑1960s many were rebodied because of corrosion and distortion caused by heavy use. This model faithfully reproduces the appearance of those popular wagons.
