Hornby Mortimore 7‑plank wagon No.56 (manufacturer part number R60342) is an OO gauge model that accurately depicts a coal wagon used during the era of the British “Big Four” railway companies – LNER, LMS, GWR and SR.
The original wagons were built to a largely standard design for private firms with rail‑connected coal yards; Mortimore’s operated as coal merchants in Chippenham, Wiltshire. This model reproduces the distinctive seven‑plank side panels of the historic wagon.
The model is highly detailed, suitable for inclusion in a freight‑focused model railway layout, and conforms to the specifications of the period it represents.
