Hornby Network Rail Mk3 DVT, item 82129, is an Era 11 OO gauge model representing a British Railways Mark 3 Driving Van Trailer. The model is finished in a painted yellow livery and carries the running number 82129.
The model measures 246 mm in length and is suitable for a minimum radius of the 2nd radius (438 mm). Power is collected through all wheels and the unit is DCC ready with an 8‑pin socket. Coupling is via NEM and tension‑lock types. The model is designed for the OO gauge and conforms to the British Rail colour specification.
The prototype DVT was designed by BREL and built by British Rail Engineering Limited between 1988 and 1990. It was intended to allow a driver to control a locomotive from the opposite end of a train and operated with Mark 2D, E and F coaches as well as Mark 3 stock. The Hornby model represents the current era of Network Rail operation.
A total of 52 Mk 3 DVTs were constructed, and examples remain in service on the UK network, including use by Network Rail.
