Hornby LNER D16/3 Class locomotive, model number 8900 “Claud Hamilton”, is a 4‑4‑0 steam‑powered replica representing the London & North Eastern Railway during the Big Four era. The model is finished in pristine condition with an Apple/Doncaster Green livery highlighted by silver lining. It measures 216 mm in length and is fully DCC ready, featuring an 8‑pin socket, a 3‑pole motor with flywheel, and power pickup from all wheels. The locomotive runs on a minimum radius of 438 mm (2nd radius) and uses NEM/tension‑lock couplings.
The original class was designed by James Holden and built at Stratford Works in 1933, with a total production of 104 locomotives for the LNER. The model bears the running number 8900 and the name “Claud Hamilton”, and it carries the manufacturer part number R3433. It is suitable for model railway layouts depicting the period of the Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
