Hornby BR J50 Class 0-6-0T No. 14 – Era 5 is an OO gauge model in pristine condition. It is DCC ready with an 8‑pin socket and carries a black livery with the British Railways late crest.
The locomotive measures 152 mm in length and is fitted with a 5‑pole skew‑wound motor. It can negotiate a minimum curve of the second radius (438 mm) and collects power via all wheels. Coupling is NEM with tension lock. The wheel arrangement is 0‑6‑0T, class J50, and it runs on steam power.
It represents a British Railways locomotive designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, built between 1913 and 1939 by Doncaster Works and Gorton Works. The model carries the operator marking British Railways, running number 14, and the manufacturer part number R3406.
The real J50 class comprised 102 locomotives built in four variants differing in brakes, driving positions, boilers and bunker sizes. They were employed by the LNER from Eastfield in Scotland to Cambridge, handling a variety of duties throughout the network.
