Peppercorn A1 60163 ‘Tornado’, a true icon of the current railway scene, rejoins the RailRoad range in a new livery scheme: Apple Green with British Railway tender lettering. Designed to be robust this RailRoad model features fully working piston and connecting rods, accurate paint application and DCC capability.

Hornby RailRoad British Railways ‘Tornado’ 60163 is an OO gauge model locomotive in a British Railways apple green livery with tender lettering. The model measures 293 mm in length, rides on metal buffers and uses a NEM coupling. It is equipped with a 21‑pin DCC decoder socket, compatible with the HM7000 system, and is described as DCC ready.
The model incorporates moulded details, working piston and connecting rods, and a minimum 2nd radius curve of 438 mm. It is supplied with an accessory pack and conforms to RailRoad specifications for the Peppercorn A1 class.
The real locomotive, Peppercorn A1 60163 ‘Tornado’, was completed in 2008, obtained its main line certificate on 01/01/2009 and has been operating in a variety of British Railways liveries. In 2017 the locomotive became the first steam engine to exceed 100 mph for more than half a century.
