This BR Class 10 is a stunning example of a non-standard locomotive, beautifully displayed in OO gauge model form. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this blue diesel locomotive is a highly detailled design for your model railway collection.
The BR Class 10 was a variation on the standard BR Class 08 shunter, fitted with Blackstone engines and GEC traction motors. Built at Darlington and Doncaster, 146 were produced between 1955 and 1962, but due to their non-standard nature, they were withdrawn early, between February 1967 and June 1972.
Built as D4067 in 1961 at Darlington, this locomotive initially worked at Darnall, Sheffield, followed by Langwith Junction and Shirebrook. Withdrawn in 1970, it was sold to the NCB and used at Betteshanger Colliery in Kent. It moved to Loughborough in 1980 for preservation and has been numbered 10119 and named after the owner’s parents.

Hornby BR Class 10 (model number R30506) is an OO‑scale representation of a British Rail diesel shunter in the British Rail Blue (TOPS) livery. The model features sprung metal buffers, NEM tension‑lock couplings and a high level of detailing suitable for a model railway collection.
The real Class 10 was a non‑standard variant of the standard Class 08 shunter, fitted with Blackstone engines and GEC traction motors. Built at Darlington and Doncaster, a total of 146 examples were produced between 1955 and 1962. Because of their non‑standard components they were withdrawn early, between February 1967 and June 1972.
The locomotive reproduced is D4067, built in 1961 at Darlington. It initially operated at Darnall, Sheffield, then at Langwith Junction and Shirebrook, before being withdrawn in 1970. It was subsequently sold to the National Coal Board for use at Betteshanger Colliery in Kent, and in 1980 it moved to Loughborough for preservation. It now carries the number 10119 and has been named “Margaret Ethel‑Thomas Alfred Naylor” after the owner’s parents.
