Prototype Era
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
A shining replica of the BR B12 Class, this OO gauge model is highly detailed, with sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings. Upgrade to HM7000 with a 21-pin decoder (sold seperately).
Stephen D Holden designed the ‘S69’ inside cylinder 4-6-0s for the Great Eastern Railway. First introduced in 1911, it was the last of 71 built before the Grouping appeared in 1921. However, a further ten were constructed by Beyer, Peacock for the LNER in 1928, by which time they had been designated the ‘B12’ Class.
Built at Stratford Works in 1913, 1516 entered traffic on GER expresses out of London’s Liverpool Street station in the November. In 1924, it was renumbered 8516, then 1516 under the LNER’s 1947 renumbering scheme. A year later it became BR’s 61516 and was withdrawn from Cambridge in July 1958.

* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Hornby BR – B12 Class – 61516 is an OO gauge model of a British Railways 4‑6‑0 locomotive. The kit is supplied with sprung metal buffers and NEM tension‑lock couplings. An optional HM7000 upgrade with a 21‑pin decoder is available separately.
The prototype, originally designed by Stephen D Holden as the GER ‘S69’ inside‑cylinder 4‑6‑0, first appeared in 1911. It was the final member of a batch of 71 built before the 1921 Grouping, and a further ten were produced by Beyer, Peacock for the LNER in 1928, when the class became known as the B12.
Built at Stratford Works in 1913, the locomotive entered express service from Liverpool Street in November 1913. It was renumbered 8516 in 1924, then 1516 under the LNER’s 1947 renumbering scheme, and later became BR number 61516. The engine was withdrawn from service at Cambridge in July 1958.
