Manufacturer description

This Club Exclusive Class 90 bears unique livery celebrating the centenary of Malcom Rail, established in Donald Malcom’s teenage years beginning with his running the family coal business.

Introduced during the closing years of British Rail, in the present-day Class 90s are usually employed on heavy freight trains and occasional charter services. In the fallout of the APT and InterCity 225 projects being curtailed, low-risk and reliable options such as the Class 87 and a demonstration 89 were the practical and ultimate choice.

In time W. H. Malcolm Ltd (trading as the Malcom Group) has become a giant logistics company headquartered in Linwood, Scotland.  Malcolm Logistics and Malcolm Rail fall under the purview of its logistics service, equipped with a massive rail division which has been running since 2001.
