Prototype Era
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
The LBSCR A1/A1X Class, named 'Terriers' for their small size matched with the 'bark' of their exhaust beat. Small and tenacious, No. 662 'Martello' was successfully returned to working order by the Bressingham Steam Museum in 2016. This magnificent engine built in 1875 can be seen today running at Bressingham most Sundays in the open season.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.
