Step into the world of model railways with this characterful and complete train set, led by the legendary Hornby RailRoad “Smokey Joe” 0-4-0 locomotive in Black livery, featuring its classic white “Smokey Joe” side lettering. 

Released as a train set in 2003, Smokey Joe is one of Hornby’s most iconic locomotives and has been part of the range, uninterrupted, for 42 years!

Perfect for beginners and collectors, the set includes everything required to begin building and operating a model railway straight out of the box. 

The locomotive features moulded plastic buffers, tension lock couplings, and a smooth-running 3-pole motor, delivering both charm and performance. One coach and one wagon accompany the engine, adding variety and visual interest to your layout.

The track provided forms a 3rd Radius Starter Oval, designed for smooth running and reliable performance. Control is handled via the included Hornby DC Train Controller (R7229), which connects to the layout through a Power Connecting Track (R8206) and is powered by the included Wall Plug Transformer (P9000W). 

For easy setup, it comes with a Hornby MidiMat measuring 1600 x 1180mm, printed with a guide layout. A re-railer tool is also provided to assist with placing rolling stock accurately on the track.

An accessory pack adds extra realism, featuring driver and fireman figures along with vacuum pipes. Finally, a comprehensive instruction manual ensures the set-up process is straightforward for newcomers.
