In 1967, Bass Beer merged with Charrington United Breweries to become the UK’s largest brewing company. The new company employed Demountables until 1979, and B749028 was of ten examples built in the 1950 Derby batch for Bass.

This OO gauge model represents a demountable tank load identified as B749028. It is based on a batch of ten wagons constructed at Derby in the 1950s for the brewery industry.
The prototype was utilised by the organisation formed following the 1967 merger between Bass Beer and Charrington United Breweries. These demountable tanks remained in service with the company until 1979 and are representative of Era 7 railway operations.
