Manufacturer description

Demountable wagons were a small but fascinating staple of the British railway scene for decades and though most famous for their association with the ‘divine medicine’ diversified into many other uses. Often requested by modellers, we’re delighted to offer them as our latest premium-quality OO Gauge product – so give in to beer pressure and order yours today!

C3021 | B749039 | BR Adhesives (Cambridge to Inverness)

Another graduate of the 1950 Bass Beer batch (but built at Shildon to a different chassis design), this wagon appears three times in our lineup – albeit in very different identities! Repurposed by British Railways in 1962, it spent the next decade or so transporting adhesives from Cambridge to Inverness, until the closure of the latter’s chipboard factory.

SPECIFICATIONS

A splash of colour brightens any railway scene, so we’ve ‘seen red’ with our first run of Demountables! But a closer look will reveal subtle differences in each model, and we’ve catered for alternative chassis designs as well as various stages in the Demountables’ diverse histories. To borrow from video game pop culture, why not ‘catch ‘em all’?

Naturally, our Demountables will feature our trademark attention to quality, with finely detailed die-cast chassis, removable loads, sprung buffers and innovative ‘ultra-flex’ bufferbeam pipes that allow them to negotiate 2nd radius curves even with tension-lock couplings attached.

And as with our Lowmacs, we’ve not forgotten finer-scale enthusiasts, as 26mm axles with plenty of ‘wiggle room’ allow for easy conversion to EM and P4 Gauges.

Here is a summary of the content in a neutral and factual style, using British English and terminology.

The latest addition to the OO Gauge range from Ellis Clark Trains is the BR Adhesives Demountable Tank Wagon B749039, modelled in BR's Late Crest era. This wagon is based on a real-life vehicle that was part of a batch built for Bass Brewery in 1950, but was later repurposed by British Railways in 1962 to transport adhesives from Cambridge to Inverness.

The model is a premium-quality representation of the Demountable wagon, featuring a finely detailed die-cast chassis, removable loads, and sprung buffers. The 'ultra-flex' bufferbeam pipes allow the model to negotiate 2nd radius curves even with tension-lock couplings attached. One of the model's unique features is the ability to convert it to EM and P4 Gauges, thanks to 26mm axles with plenty of 'wiggle room'.

The model will be released in June or July 2025, and will be available in various liveries, each with subtle differences to reflect the different stages of the Demountable's history.
