We are delighted to present this brand new model of the Southern Railway ‘Booster’ Electric Locomotive No. 20002 in BR Green livery as part of the EFE Rail OO scale range. Conceived in the late-1930s to take advantage of the Southern’s expansive electrified network, two of these Co-Co locomotives were built, gaining the nickname the ‘Boosters’ due to their motor-generator-flywheel drive arrangement employed to overcome ‘gapping’, when the locomotive could momentarily loose its electrical supply when travelling over gaps in the conductor rail.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

EFE Rail SR Bulleid Booster 20002 BR Green is a model of the Southern Railway Booster electric locomotive, number 20002, presented in British Railways late‑crest green livery. The model is supplied by EFE Rail and carries the manufacturer part number E82004. It is part of the EFE Rail OO scale range.
The prototype locomotive was designed in the late 1930s to operate on the Southern Railway’s extensive electrified network. Only two of the Co‑Co wheel arrangement locomotives were built, and they were nicknamed “Boosters” because of their motor‑generator‑flywheel drive system, which helped overcome brief loss of power (gapping) when travelling over gaps in the conductor rail.
