Manufacturer description
After the success of our Commemorative Wagon range in 2025, continue building your train with our new 2026 offerings.

For our 2026 range, the focus is on Pioneering UK Railways. With so many history shaping railways to choose from, we hope you can forgive us for narrowing the list down to 3 major lines which will be represented. This wagon represents the Stockton and Darlington Railway.

Perhaps one of the most famous early railway lines, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway was a pioneering powerhouse. The L&MR’s list of railway firsts includes being the first inter-city railway in the world, the first railway to rely exclusively on steam power, the first to be an entirely dual track line throughout its length, the first to have a true signalling system, and the first to be fully timetabled. 2026 also marks 200 years since the passing of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Act of 1826.

We have chosen to represent these incredible feats of early rail infrastructure with the same 7 plank wagons as the Railway 200, NRM50, SDR200, and Greatest Gathering models used last year, allowing modellers and collectors to build a consistent and now fairly impressive train!

Dapol Science Museum Commemorative Wagon – Liverpool and Manchester Railway is a model kit produced by Dapol, identified by manufacturer part number 564465. The wagon forms part of the company’s 2026 range, which focuses on pioneering UK railway lines.

The model represents the historic Liverpool and Manchester Railway, recognised for a number of railway firsts, including being the world’s first inter‑city railway, the first to operate solely on steam power, the first entirely double‑track line, the first with a comprehensive signalling system and the first to run a full timetable. The year 2026 marks the 200th anniversary of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Act of 1826.

The wagon uses the same seven‑plank design employed in Dapol’s Railway 200, NRM50, SDR200 and Greatest Gathering models released in the previous year, enabling collectors and modellers to create a uniform and detailed train composition.

Images shown for the 2026 range are currently concept renders and may be altered before production.
