Locomotive Background Information
The series of models being manufactured by Dapol are to the later Churchward build from numbers 5390 through to 7321, constructed between 1920 and 1923 with the final eight (6362-6369) in 1925 under Collett. These Collett locomotives had outside cylinder steam pipes fitted from new, whilst this feature was added to the majority of the earlier batch from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. The last to be withdrawn was 6395 on 21-11-1964.
General Specification
Many original GA drawings were used in the development of these accurate and authentic models. The locomotive has a diecast chassis with a five pole motor driving the rear wheels. To add compensation the centre driving wheels are sprung, the front pony truck is also sprung and operates on a cam so the model will negotiate R2 curves with ease.
To portray these locomotives over their lifetime many details have been drawn up as follows:-

Dapol 2‑6‑0 Mogul 6308 Lined Green Early Crest is an OO gauge model, DCC fitted and supplied as part number 4S‑043‑007D. It depicts a British Railways locomotive carrying the Early Crest livery.
The prototype locomotives were built by the Great Western Railway between 1920 and 1923 to the later Churchward design (numbers 5390‑7321), with the final eight (6362‑6369) constructed in 1925 under Collett. Collett engines were fitted with outside‑cylinder steam pipes from new, a feature later added to most earlier examples during the late 1940s and early 1950s. The last of the class was withdrawn on 21‑11‑1964.
The model incorporates a die‑cast chassis and a five‑pole motor that drives the rear wheels. The centre driving wheels and the front pony truck are sprung; the pony truck operates on a cam to negotiate R2 curves smoothly.
Details include interchangeable Churchward taper buffers or Collett straight‑shank buffers, optional smokebox fittings with or without cylinder steam pipes, tall or low vacuum pipes, tall or short safety‑valve covers, lamp brackets mounted on the smokebox top or door, a period‑specific smokebox number plate and a standard Churchward 3,500‑gallon tender.
