Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
The prototype coaches were constructed between 1914 and 1920 made of steel body sides with an absence of panelling but with bolection mouldings around the windows and frosted glass top light windows, sitting on Churchward 9’-0” bogies. They were designed to operate as a set comprising Left hand and right-hand Brake Thirds, 1 or 2-Thirds and left hand and right-hand Composites enabling all corridor windows to be displayed on the same side, commonly used for cross country and main line working between cities.

Dapol GWR Corridor Toplight 1930 Chocolate & Cream Twin Cities All Third 2573 is a 00 gauge model kit produced by Dapol. The kit carries the manufacturer part number 4P-021-201 and represents coaches from the era of the Big Four railway companies (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
The prototype coaches were built between 1914 and 1920. They featured steel body sides without paneling, bolection mouldings around the windows and frosted glass top‑light windows, and rode on Churchward 9‑ft‑0‑in bogies. Designed as a mixed set of left‑hand and right‑hand brake thirds, 1‑ or 2‑thirds and composites, the coaches displayed all corridor windows on the same side and were commonly used on cross‑country and main‑line services between cities.
The chassis includes die‑cast frames with two stamped metal compensation beams that allow wheel‑bearing electrical pick‑up via stub axles. Two styles of underframe truss rods are offered, and the die‑cast framing is compatible with close‑coupled cam couplings for negotiating R2 (438 mm) curves, with NEM pockets for magnetic couplings. Wheels are sized for 00 gauge (16.5 mm) but provide clearance for 18.2 mm gauge wheels; axles are 26 mm over the end points and feature sprung metal buffers.
Coach sides are supplied as separate ABS‑plastic parts. The kit provides gap‑free corridor connections suitable for R2 curves, a decorated interior with individually fitted luggage racks in each passenger compartment, roof ventilators appropriate to the period, metal door and commode handles, and separate destination boards for the modeller to fit. All coaches include interior lighting and a DCC decoder plug with a blanking plug.
