Dapol GWR Corridor Toplight 1925 Lined Chocolate & Cream Composite LH 6938 is a 00 gauge model kit. It carries the manufacturer part number 4P-021-102 and represents the era of the Big Four railway companies (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
The prototype coaches were built between 1914 and 1920. They featured steel body sides without panelling, bolection mouldings around the windows and frosted glass toplight windows, and rode on Churchward 9‑0″ bogies. The design was intended for sets comprising left‑hand and right‑hand brake thirds, 1‑ or 2‑thirds and left‑hand and right‑hand composites, allowing all corridor windows to be displayed on the same side. These coaches were commonly used on cross‑country and main‑line services between cities.
The chassis includes die‑cast frames with two stamped metal compensation beams that allow wheel‑bearing electrical pick‑up via stub axles. Two styles of underframe truss rods are available and the chassis is wholly die‑cast. Couplings are close‑coupled on a cam to negotiate R2 (438 mm) curve trackwork and are fitted with NEM pockets for magnetic couplings, though traditional NEM‑compatible couplings may also be used. Wheels are sized for 00 gauge (16.5 mm) but provide clearance for 18.2 mm gauge wheels, with axles 26 mm over the end points. Sprung metal buffers are fitted.
The body sections are supplied as separate ABS‑plastic side panels. Gap‑free corridor connections accommodate R2 curves, and each passenger compartment includes a separately fitted luggage rack. Period‑appropriate shell ventilators are provided on the roof. Metal door and commode handles are supplied, while destination boards are offered separately for the modeller to fit. All coaches come with interior lighting and include a DCC decoder plug and a blanking plug.
