Dapol has announced a new 57ft Stanier Non-Corridor Brake coach in BR Lined Maroon livery. This model is representative of the early days of British Railways, specifically the period around the introduction of the British Railways crest.

The prototype coaches were designed by William Stanier in the 1930s as a metal-clad version of the LMS suburban coaches. They remained in service until the mid-1960s, with some examples seen in three liveries: LMS lined maroon, BR Carmine, and BR lined maroon. The Dapol model is based on 25 composites and 32 brake end coaches.

Dapol acquired the tooling from Airfix in the 1980s and has made several improvements to the model. These include new separately fitted underframe details, a dynamo, upgraded vacuum cylinders, additional framing, brake shafts, and a new bogie pivot fixing. The model also features new metal wheels and adaptor clips for NEM pockets, as well as re-polished glazing. Decorated samples are available for viewing, with updated images to be released closer to the model's release date.
