Manufacturer description

Previous models shown for illustration purposes only. Containers Sold Separately.

During the 1990's the growing use of 9'6" tall (High Cube) containers was causing problems for freight operators transportingthem on height restricted UK railway lines using standard intermodal flat bed wagons. The Tiphook approach to solve this problem was not the conventional solution of lowering the platform and using smaller wheels, instead they designed a latticed platform that sat low down, below the top level of the bogies and a pocket was formed with the slab sides that gave the wagon strength and rigidity. In total seventy five of these wagons were built by Rautaruuki in Finland. They were delivered in two batches between 1997 and 1998 and bore a blue Tiphook livery. We are pleased to now be able to supply the later TOUAX livery version of these wagons.

The Dapol model of the KQA/KTA Container Wagon in Tiphook Blue livery represents the initial period of railway privatisation in the 1990s.

This model is based on a unique solution designed by Tiphook to accommodate the increasing use of 9'6" tall containers on UK railway lines with height restrictions. Instead of lowering the platform and using smaller wheels, Tiphook designed a latticed platform that sits low down below the bogies, with a pocket formed by the slab sides for added strength and rigidity.

Seventy five of these wagons were built by Rautaruuki in Finland between 1997 and 1998, and were delivered in two batches with a blue Tiphook livery. This model is a later version, representing the TOUAX livery.

The model features highly detailed body moulding, accurately applied livery and NEM pockets and couplings as standard.
