Dapol Fruit Mex GWR 38255 is a OO gauge model of a former Great Western Railway fruit wagon. The model is produced under Dapol part number 4F-015-017 OO and represents the period known as the Big Four, when the LNER, LMS, GWR and SR operated the British railway network.
The original fruit Mex wagon was derived from the GWR 8‑ton Mex B cattle wagon after changes in animal‑welfare legislation rendered many cattle wagons redundant. It featured an added top section of side‑slat panels, making it suitable for transporting large quantities of fresh fruit such as strawberries from the West Country and the Vale of Evesham.
The Dapol model includes highly detailed body moulding, a weathered finish, profiled wheels, NEM pockets with self‑centring couplings and accurately applied GWR livery.
