A large fleet of 555 JNA bogie ballast wagons was built by Astro Vagone (part of the Trinity group) in Romania and was principally designed to carry ballast and spoil. The design incorporated a large reinforced door in the centre bay to aid inspection, discharge and cleaning. The fleet came into service in 2004 and are now a common site nationally in their distinctive yellow engineers livery of Network Rail. They commonly operate in rakes of five and have been given the nickname Falcon

Dapol JNA Falcon Network Rail NLU29121 (manufacturer part number 4F‑010‑019) is a 00 gauge model of a JNA bogie ballast wagon used by Network Rail. The model represents the period of railway rebuilding and is supplied in the distinctive yellow engineers livery applied to the real fleet.

The real wagons were built by Astro Vagone, part of the Trinity group, in Romania. A total of 555 wagons entered service in 2004; they were designed to transport ballast and spoil and feature a large reinforced door in the centre bay for inspection, discharge and cleaning. They are commonly seen operating in rakes of five and have acquired the nickname “Falcon”.

The Dapol model includes a finely moulded body with numerous separately added details, accurately printed livery, profiled wheels and standard NEM coupling pockets. Note that the running number shown on the prototype is incorrect and images will be revised before release.
