Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
Sixteen Class 121 single-car, double-ended driving motor vehicles were built from 1960, numbered 55020–55035. These were supplemented by ten single-ended trailer vehicles, numbered 56280–56289 (later renumbered 54280–54289). They have a top speed of 70 mph, with slam-doors, and vacuum brakes. The driving motor vehicles were nicknamed "Bubble cars".

The model represents a British Railways Late Crest period vehicle, replicating the Class 121 single‑car, double‑ended driving motor built from 1960, numbered 55020–55035, and the associated single‑ended trailer vehicles, later renumbered 54280–54289. The prototype had a top speed of 70 mph, slam doors and vacuum brakes, and was nicknamed “bubble cars”.
Key features of the Dapol model include a finely moulded body with separately added details, accurately applied Chiltern Green livery, cast wheels with fine relief and appropriate colouring, a tungsten chassis with all‑wheel pick‑up, NEM pockets as standard, independently controllable directional lighting, and Dapol’s 5‑pole skew‑wound Mega creep motor for smooth running and fine speed control.
