Bachmann NER Snowplough 11 in NER Indian Red is a limited‑edition ready‑to‑run model released exclusively through the Rails of Sheffield range. It carries the manufacturer part number 38‑640Z and represents the pre‑grouping era of the North Eastern Railway.
The model recreates the wooden‑bodied snowploughs that were employed across the North East of England to keep vital routes open during severe winter weather. It is based on research and drawings of the surviving NER Snowplough No 12 and is the first time this type has been offered as a ready‑to‑run item.
The product is the result of a collaboration between Bachmann Europe, Rails of Sheffield and Locomotion Models. The snowploughs were traditionally used in pairs and the model reflects this historic operating practice.
Key features include authentic NER livery and a fully painted and detailed interior with handbrake, stove and seats; rear‑only NEM coupling; RP25 finescale wheel profiles; separately fitted handrails, lamp irons and chimney, with posable lamp irons on the plough blade; and a detail pack containing a chain‑link coupling.
