Prototype Era
Era 8 (1983 to 1994) British Rail Sectorisation
The POA Mineral Wagons were created in the late-1980s by building new bodies onto the chassis of redundant tank wagons in order to move aggregates. Owned by Tiger Rail, the wagons were leased to ARC and Foster Yeoman but within a few years, larger bogie wagons were being introduced and the POAs were gradually displaced onto a variety of traffic including scrap metal and coal. Later the wagons were purchased by British Rail and most ended up in engineering use.
The Bachmann Branchline model employs a precision bodyshell with panel lines and ribs moulded both inside and out. Individual ladders are fitted to the body and chassis on each side. The chassis features separate brake shoes, brake handles, linkage and auxiliary gear, meanwhile the bufferbeam is completed with metal buffer heads, a coupling hook and lamp iron. Like all Branchline models, metal wheelsets are fitted as standard to ensure smooth running, and NEM coupling pockets make it easy to fit an alternative coupling system where required.

Bachmann Branchline produce a OO scale model of the POA Mineral Wagon, known as the ARC/Tiger Yellow. The model carries the manufacturer part number 37-552D and represents the British Rail sectorisation period of the late 1980s, when new bodies were fitted to redundant tank wagon chassis to transport aggregates. Originally owned by Tiger Rail, the wagons were leased to ARC and Foster Yeoman before being displaced by larger bogie wagons and later taken into British Rail engineering use.
The model includes a precision bodyshell with panel lines and ribs moulded both inside and out, and individual ladders fitted to each side of the body and chassis. The chassis is equipped with separate brake shoes, brake handles, linkage and auxiliary gear, while the bufferbeam features metal buffer heads, a coupling hook and lamp iron. Metal wheelsets are fitted as standard for smooth running and NEM coupling pockets allow fitting of alternative coupling systems.
Key specifications: model scale OO, era 8, livery ARC/Tiger Yellow, running number TRL5313, length 121 mm over couplings, and NEM coupling pockets. The model is intended for collectors and railway enthusiasts seeking an accurate representation of the POA Mineral Wagon.
