Prototype Era
Era 8 (1983 to 1994) British Rail Sectorisation
The POA Mineral Wagons were created in the late-1980s by building new bodies onto the chassis of redundant tank wagons in order to move aggregates. Owned by Tiger Rail, the wagons were leased to ARC and Foster Yeoman but within a few years, larger bogie wagons were being introduced and the POAs were gradually displaced onto a variety of traffic including scrap metal and coal. Later the wagons were purchased by British Rail and most ended up in engineering use.
The Bachmann Branchline model employs a precision bodyshell with panel lines and ribs moulded both inside and out. Individual ladders are fitted to the body and chassis on each side. The chassis features separate brake shoes, brake handles, linkage and auxiliary gear, meanwhile the bufferbeam is completed with metal buffer heads, a coupling hook and lamp iron. Like all Branchline models, metal wheelsets are fitted as standard to ensure smooth running, and NEM coupling pockets make it easy to fit an alternative coupling system where required.

The Bachmann Branchline OO‑scale model (product code 37‑551A) represents a POA mineral wagon of the “Yeoman/Tiger” grey livery, formerly owned by Tiger Rail and used during the British Rail sectorisation period. The prototype dates from the late 1980s, when new bodies were fitted to redundant tank‑wagon chassis for the transport of aggregates, before later being reallocated to scrap metal, coal and engineering traffic.
The model includes a precision‑moulded bodyshell with panel lines and ribs on both sides, individual ladders, a chassis with separate brake shoes, brake handles, linkage and auxiliary gear, and a buffer beam fitted with metal buffer heads, a coupling hook and lamp iron. Metal wheelsets are standard, and NEM coupling pockets allow fitting of alternative coupling systems.
Key specifications: Era 8, running number TRL5355, length 121 mm over couplings, and a pristine Yeoman/Tiger grey livery.
