Bachmann 6‑Pin DCC Loco‑Decoder (part number 36‑568A) is a compact decoder designed for model locomotives that have a 6‑pin NEM651 DCC socket. It should not be fitted to the Graham Farish 3F “Jinty” or Class 64XX Pannier Tank; those models require the 36‑556RA decoder.
The decoder operates in four modes – NMRA DCC, Motorola, DC analogue and AC analogue (Marklin) – and includes a back‑EMF function that can be disabled. Speed control is available in 14, 28 or 128 steps and both short and long addresses are supported. It can drive DC motors, including coreless types, with a continuous current rating of 0.8 A and a variable‑pulse‑width motor regulation up to 40 kHz. Over‑load protection and optional back‑EMF de‑selection are provided.
Four powered function outputs are fitted, each capable of 500 mA (500 mA total for all outputs), with overload protection; two of these outputs are accessed via solder pads. An additional two logic‑level or SUSI outputs are also available. The decoder features a brake‑button function on F2 for realistic braking control, and a selectable shunting‑speed/momentum key.
Physical dimensions are 14 mm × 9 mm × 2.5 mm and the default locomotive address is set to 3. Programming can be performed in DCC service mode or by DCC PoM (programme on the main). The unit incorporates the RailCom® feedback system and its firmware can be upgraded.
The decoder is produced for Bachmann Europe by Zimo. Full technical data and installation instructions are supplied in the Zimo MX622N user guide, available from the Zimo website.
