Bachmann 8‑Pin DCC Loco‑Decoder (Part No 36‑566A) is a dual‑mode DCC/DC decoder designed for models fitted with an 8‑pin (NEM‑652) decoder socket. It replaces the earlier item 36‑566 and is compatible with any model for which that decoder was recommended.
Key features include a Back EMF function, four powered function outputs, a continuous load capacity of 0.9 A, and RailComPlus® automatic registration with selected DCC systems. The decoder works with DC motors, including coreless types, and supports NMRA/DCC speed steps of 14, 28 and 128, short and long addresses, and both DCC and DC operation (the DC mode can be de‑selected). It recognises the operational mode automatically and can be used with Lenz® LG 100 and ABC braking sections.
Motor control provides pulse‑width regulation between 10 kHz and 50 kHz, overload protection and optional Back EMF disabling. The four function outputs each carry a maximum of 250 mA (500 mA total) and include overload protection; the brake button function is assigned to F2 for realistic braking.
The decoder measures 25.5 mm × 15.5 mm × 4.5 mm, plus a wiring harness, and defaults to address 3. It can be programmed in DCC Service Mode or via DCC PoM (Programming on Main). Additional capabilities include RailCom® feedback and RailComPlus® automatic registration.
