Prototype Era
Era 11 (2016 to 2026) The Last Days of Privatisation
The Pride of Britain Train Pack honours the outstanding efforts and achievements of the NHS and all key workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Containing a Class 66 Diesel Locomotive and two model aircraft, proceeds from the sale of this pack will be donated to NHS Charities Together.
The Class 66 locomotive portrays GB Railfreight & Porterbrook No. 66731 which was unveiled in its ‘Thank you NHS’ livery in April 2020 and was later named ‘Capt. Tom Moore – A True British Inspiration’. That sentiment was certainly fitting as the late Captain Sir Tom Moore, who turned 100 years old on the 30th April 2020, undertook a challenge to walk one hundred laps of his garden in the runup to his centenary birthday to raise funds for NHS Charities Together – with the aim of raising £1,000. Captain Tom’s fundraising campaign soon took off and on the morning of his birthday he had raised over £30 million.
In honour of Captain Tom’s amazing feat and as a special birthday surprise, a Hurricane and a Spitfire from the Royal Air Force's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight performed a flypast over his house – the two aircraft being depicted in miniature as part of this special pack. After completing his challenge and in recognition of his phenomenal achievement, Captain Tom was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
Each pack includes:This never to be repeated pack is a true Collector’s item, and by offering it for sale to members of the Bachmann Collectors Club we will be able to donate £60,000 to NHS Charities Together – the same great cause championed by Captain Tom when he started his challenge back in April 2020.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Bachmann Pride of Britain Train Pack – OO (Bachmann Collectors Club limited edition) is a collector’s set featuring a British Rail Class 66 diesel locomotive (GB Railfreight No. 66731) in the “Thank you NHS” blue and yellow livery, named Capt Tom Moore. The locomotive is finished to a pristine standard, fitted with a DCC sound decoder, 21‑pin socket and directional lighting, and measures 285 mm in length. It represents the current era (Era 9) and includes etched nameplates, NEM coupling pockets, sprung buffers and a driver in the cab.
The pack also includes two 1:72‑scale model aircraft – a Hawker Hurricane (LF363) and a Supermarine Spitfire (MK356) – both fully assembled, painted and supplied with Pride of Britain display stands. A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the items.
Proceeds from the sale of the pack are being donated to NHS Charities Together, with a target contribution of £60,000. The set commemorates the fundraising efforts of Captain Sir Tom Moore, who turned 100 on 30 April 2020 and raised over £30 million for the NHS charities.
Only 446 copies were produced, making the pack a limited‑edition collector’s item released in April 2024. The Bachmann part number is 32‑980K.
