Manufacturer description

Planet Industrials Exclusive, Produced by Accurascale.

Limited stock available.

The pack contains three individually numbered wagons.

Introduced in 1950, almost 14,000 of these mineral wagons were built for British Rail. Two basic designs were used, both having twin side doors and one end door in their 21ft 6in long bodies, mounted on 12ft wheelbase under-frames. The 21 ton wagons were closer to their 16 ton predecessors in height, and lasted longest both in production and in service. Many saw extended lives in industrial service.

The dark grey and orange livery is inspired by the internal user wagons at Grimethorpe Colliery in North Yorkshire, however due to their plain livery they could be adapted for use on your own industrial layout.

Accurascale Industrial 21 ton steel mineral wagon – triple pack, limited edition “Rails of Sheffield”, part number PIR‑001. The model represents British Railways late crest period and is produced exclusively for Planet Industrials.

The real‑world wagons were introduced in 1950; almost 14 000 units were built for British Rail. Two basic designs were used, both with twin side doors and a single end door on a 21 ft 6 in (6.55 m) long body mounted on a 12 ft (3.66 m) wheelbase under‑frame. The 21‑ton wagons were similar in height to the earlier 16‑ton types and had the longest production run, with many later serving in industrial environments.

The pack contains three individually numbered wagons, each supplied with a builder’s plate, wagon label and matching livery of dark grey and orange, inspired by internal user wagons at Grimethorpe Colliery, North Yorkshire. The colour scheme is plain enough to be re‑liveried for other industrial layouts.

Key specifications include a 1/107 diagram, spindle buffers, oil‑filled axle boxes, side doors on both sides and one end door for end‑tipping, NEM‑standard coupler pockets with narrow tension‑lock couplers, metal three‑hole disc RP25 profile wheels on metal axles (14.4 mm back‑to‑back, 26 mm over pinpoints), and extra‑fine factory‑fitted plastic parts with sprung buffers. The wagons are designed for easy conversion to P4 and EM gauges. Limited stock is available.
