Accurascale has released a new range of OO gauge models of the BR Mk.2c (large toilet window) TSO coach in various liveries, including BR Blue/Grey, Network SouthEast, InterCity, and TransPennine. The models feature highly detailed exterior and interior components, including etched metal and plastic parts, and accurate underframe details.
The coaches are designed to represent the Phase I Mk.2c variant, which retained the basic window layout of the Mk.2b but featured large 'G' style vents, smaller 'GM' vents, or 'Roe-Vac' vents. The models are available in a variety of liveries, including a new South Wales & West livery featuring dark blue and maroon colours.
The models have a number of features, including prism free glazing, pre-painted etched metal water filler covers, and fully detailed underframes with numerous separate parts. The bogies are accurate and can be re-gauged to EM or P4 gauges. The models also feature blackened wheel-sets and different buffers for retracted and non-retracted positions.
The coaches are designed to be highly versatile, with a minimum radius of 438mm and a length of 269mm. The models are available with a range of lighting options, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and directional lighting with DC or DCC control.
Accurascale has also released a range of Mk.2b and Mk.2c coaches in the South Wales & West livery, which were operated by the South Wales & West franchise between 1996 and 1999. These coaches were leased from Carnforth Railway Restoration Services and ran services across the region, including the Rhymney–Cardiff–Fishguard route.
The models are highly detailed and feature accurate interiors, including characteristic 'winged' headrests and metal interior handrails. The models also feature a range of operating features, including working interior lighting and close-coupling mechanisms with NEM pockets.
Overall, the Accurascale BR Mk.2c (large toilet window) TSO coach is a highly detailed and accurate model that is suitable for modellers of all skill levels. With a range of liveries and eras available, modellers can create a wide range of formations and scenarios behind popular Accurascale locomotives.
