Accurascale has released a new pack of OO gauge models, featuring two cutdown HYA wagons ex-Biomass with VTG branding. These models are representative of the wagons that were modified in the early 2020s to reduce their length and make them more suitable for carrying aggregates.
The pack includes two individually numbered wagons, each with its own unique running number and decoration. The models are highly detailed and feature a range of features, including etched metal detailing, fine plastic parts, and NEM standard coupler pockets with kinematic close coupling functionality.
The wagons are designed to represent the modified version of the HYA/IHA family of bogie coal hoppers, which were built between 2007 and 2013. The fleet of wagons was reduced in length in 2016, with some wagons being converted and others being stored or redeployed to carry aggregates.
The models are available in a blue and black livery with VTG branding and feature a working LED tail light. The wagons are designed to be compatible with 16.5mm track and have a length of 195mm over buffers.
Accurascale has made some improvements to the model, including switching the tail light operation to a track pick-up system to eliminate the need for batteries. The models are also designed to have a free-rolling quality, with additional procedures in place to ensure this during the quality control process.
The release is the first of a new series of models from Accurascale, and is expected to be popular with modellers of modern British railway stock.
