Model details

Accurascale has released a new model of the Cutdown HYA wagon in OO gauge, featuring a Blue/Black livery with Touax/GB Railfreight branding. This model represents the wagon as it appeared during the initial period of privatisation.

The pack contains two wagons, each with its own unique running number and decoration. The models are highly detailed and feature a range of features, including NEM standard coupler pockets, sprung buffers, and etched metal detailing. They also have highly detailed TF25 low track force bogies and blackened wheel-sets.

The Accurascale model is based on the real-life HYA/IIA family of bogie coal hoppers, which were built by International Railway Services in Romania and at WH Davis' workshops at Langwith Junction, Shirebrook, between 2007 and 2013. The fleet was initially used for coal transport, but as coal volumes fell, the wagons were either stored or redeployed to carry aggregates.

In 2016, VTG Rail began a programme to reduce the length of the wagons by removing the centre bay, resulting in the creation of the Cutdown HYA wagons. This process continued over the years, with some wagons being modified for biomass use. The wagons were eventually painted in a new 'steel blue' colour scheme with black and Touax/GB Railfreight branding.

The model features a range of unique details, including individual lettering, logos, and codes, to ensure authenticity. The wagons are 195mm in length and weigh 160g.

The Accurascale model is a highly detailed representation of the Cutdown HYA wagon and is a welcome addition to any OO gauge model railway layout.
